The history and scientific background of HUMINnova

The HUMINnova system builds on more than 30 years of international research and development. The unique process for producing a pure, water-soluble humic acid concentrate was developed by Professor Pál Gömöry, former head of the Department of Chemistry at Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in Budapest. His work resulted in a technology that gently extracts humic acid from lignite, preserving its natural active-ingredient content and water solubility.

What makes HUMINnova’s humic acid concentrate unique?

Humic acid is one of the most researched natural active substances in the world, yet few products actually deliver what they promise. Most “humic products” on the market contain untreated, low-concentration coal dust. HUMINnova, by contrast, guarantees a minimum of 60% pure, organic humic acid concentrate — confirmed by monthly accredited laboratory testing (EUROFINS) and by a Hungarian authorization issued by NÉBIH (the National Food Chain Safety Office).

The product’s other distinguishing feature is its full water solubility: thanks to a proprietary process, even naturally non-water-soluble humic acid is made usable. Nearly a hundred humic substance producers exist worldwide, but only a handful achieve genuine water solubility — other products typically contain 5–35% humic acid.

How does humic acid affect the soil and the plant?

The giant molecules of humic acid act as a natural catalyst in the soil: they form a bridge between nutrients and the root system, making nutrients previously unavailable to the plant absorbable. It also inactivates heavy metals and toxic contaminants in the soil through chelation, speeds up the division rate of soil bacteria (from 4 hours to as little as 15 minutes), and produces a stronger, deeper root system — making the treated soil more drought- and frost-tolerant, and more water-retentive.

The system’s two components

1. HUMIN AQUA – soil conditioner

An organic, bee-friendly, pure humic acid concentrate (min. 60%), extracted from young lignite using a gentle, proprietary technology. Applied once, in spring or autumn, into the top 10 cm layer of soil, at 40–100 litres per hectare diluted 1:20. Available in 5, 10 and 18-litre containers and 1,000-litre tanks.

2. BIOMIT – plant conditioner

A foliar fertilizer certified by Biokontroll Hungária, made with dolomite powder ground below 20 microns and more than 70 plant extracts. Applied by spraying four times during the growing season, it forms a protective, film-like layer on the leaf that is not washed off by rain or irrigation water and has a repelling effect on pests. Available in 10-litre canisters and 1,000-litre tanks.

Used together, the two components deliver outstanding results: a minimum +20% yield increase, better internal and nutritional quality, improved transportability and shelf life, and a 0-day pre-harvest interval under organic certification.
